Born Again Noob!
Hi All!
I've not played in many years (many, many). I have a 20 Assassin and a 20 Necro. I've recently started playing a bit but I'm kind of lost on what to do. I like PvE and PvP but it seems that things have changed so much! Are guilds worth looking into? Bah sorry for all of the questions but it's like I bought the game with level 20's attached and I can't remember for the life of me how it all fits together! Any advice is appreciated! Best regards, Paynen Supherin |

Oh man, where to start.
PvP has changed a lot with skill splits to keep the game balanced. 95% of PvP guilds are required to have high-end players. Codex Arena replaced Hero Battles. PvE on the other hand is still a little broken but the HUGE update tomorrow will change a ton. Underworld now has the God of Death, Dhuum (Which is a blast to fight). Green items are worth an average 2-5k except of rare skinned greens. Tonics are everywhere in towns, Kamadam is the new trade area. PvE skills are super useful and should grab some. Check out the wiki page for more information. Looking into a guild isn't a must, but they can help you with a lot of changes and meta builds. I'll be happy to lend you a hand just whisper Zodiac Ele. |

Also @ OP, consider getting Eye of the North if you actually like to play Guild Wars (I say this assuming that you haven't played in years which means you don't have EotN). You get a lot of new dungeons, awesome new skills that are usable by any profession, and meet the new races/areas. There's also hard mode which makes drops better and increases the difficulty and level of monsters. THERE'S ALSO HEROES. Heroes are like henchmen that belong to you and you can customize what goes into their armor pieces and what their skills are. Each person can bring up to 3 years per party. They also made henchmen better by giving them better skill sets. PS - Also consider getting Nightfall, good game. Sorry if I'm assuming wrong here. Most likely SF nerf as long as possible nerfs to other popular Farming builds/skills. If you don't know what SF is its Shadow form usage on an assassin that through a trio of skills your able to keep SF up constantly, its very easy and everyone does it and can solo elite places like the Underworld, extremely fast.

Well. If you get into a good guild they might be able to get your refreshed.
Leaving out all the annoying skill balances and stuff...ill list some things coming off the top of my head at the moment. -PvE Hard Mode (Makes areas maxed out difficulty) Brought life back into the old "noob" areas as well. All you needed to do was beat the campaign once to access the HM button so you can switch between NM and HM. -PvP/PvE skill split, because skill balances were affecting both communities, lots of QQ'in was happenin so they introduced it. But a lot of old PvE skills remained nerfed to hell. -Bonus mission pack (purchase it from online store) -Makeover Pack (lets you change how your character looks.) The extreme makeover lets you swap genders, lol. -Nicholas Sandford. Sits in pre seating with item requirements changing daily. The items he seeks are collectibles that various monsters drop. (ex. scale fins..etc..) One gift of the huntsman per 5 items. -Nicholas the traveler. Travels around in the game (not pre searing areas) and he moves and switches his item requirements once per week. His item requirements are usually a 2-5 (depending on rarity of item) of any monster drop (like a scale fin) for one Gift of the Traveler. -Zaishen Quests. Lots to explain here, but best for you to talk into the Great temple of balthazar and check out the flags, as well as the npc's next to the flags. Depending on how "man many" years you have last played... you probably might not even have Eye of the north (the expansion). Maybe even Nightfall. And look up some of the stuff here I mentioned on the official wiki for lots of good info. wiki.guildwars.com |

My suggestion would be to start again with a new character (even if it is the same profession as your current level 20s). You can learn the basics again and you may pick it up quickly and breeze through the starting areas.
Then you will have a good understanding of the game and will have also picked up some chat from other players while you're playing, you can look at joining a Guild to help you out and provide a stable group of people to play with. Good luck and have fun! |

Thanks everyone!
I do have all packs including Nightfall. I just bought Eye of the North last night. I think I may just start a new toon in the Nightfall campaign. I'll be on Sui Sydal or Paynen Supherin so look me up! Thanks again! |

Yeah, i'm curious about the update tomorrow too. What's that all about? Where can I get info? Obviously it'll be posted what the updates are after they happen. Is there a place you can look for new updates?

You'll know when we know and when that happens it'll be posted beforehand. In other words. No one has a clue. If there was a place to look for new updates that haven't been implemented yet, we'd all know by now. Info spreads like wild fire.

The split was done so skill changes in PvP wouldn't affect the skills in PvE anymore, and vice versa. If this split gave us a more balanced PvP is open for debate.
Oh, and welcome back, Paynen_Supherin. If you want to join a guild, this forum is a good place to start. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/f...play.php?f=263 Quote:
By deleting your character, you would lose all the progress on the character. Last edited by Arduin; Dec 10, 2009 at 09:56 AM // 09:56.. |

In short: If it's a PvE toon I recommend contacting Support and telling them you have a character named "Sui Sydal" and that you think it might be against their EULA/ToS. They would probably allow you a free name change. Support is usually rather leniant and quite supportive in technical cases like this. If it's a PvP toon just remake it. PvP characters can be remade infinitly. Just make sure you take off ALL items/gold that were put onto the character that isn't creatable via "pvp item creation". Ah, didn't think of the 20's being PvP characters, more like OP played two PvE's to level 20, then ditched the game.
Either way, contacting support is probably the best way to go: http://www.guildwars.com/support/default.php |

The toon "Sui Sydal" is a new toon so no harm in deleting. I don't have alot of experience with the PvP side of GW but I'd sure like to get into some. Seems that there is quite a learning curve. Ah well if anyone knows of a guild that doesn't have a problem teaching I'm generally a quick study. Thanks again for all the positive posts! |
